The Medical Day Unit is within the Division of Medical Services and provides care for a variety of patients from most specialties within Medicine and Specialty Medicine. Specialities included are Rheumatology, Gastroenterology, Renal, Neurology, Endocrinology, Dermatology and Research and Development. The unit provides care for patients who are planned to attend for a variety of procedures including blood tests, infusions, biopsy, drains and endoscopes. Most of the procedures are Staff Nurse led which requires a fast forward planning and thinking individual whose is able to adapt to sudden changes within the patient activity. Working on this unit will provide opportunities to develop new clinical skills or consolidate existing professional knowledge, and skills. It is a busy unit with Staff Nurses only and therefore the successful individual will be required to be flexible within the role to cover all activities during the patient’ time on the unit.
We are looking to employ enthusiastic and motivated Staff Nurses who will work to ensure that high quality, patient centred care is consistently provided and have the ‘I can do philosophy’ and have good time management skills.
The unit is committed to personal development and this post will provide an opportunity for the successful candidates to develop their management /leadership and nursing skills.
MDU is a Medical Elective Unit open from Monday - Friday, 07.00-19.30 hours. This is a full time post of 37.5 hours per week but there may be part-time opportunities available.
