Applications are invited for Trust Senior House Officers in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust in Truro. These are for a replacement post, for a fixed term period of 12 months. 

If you meet the national person specification and have completed 10 months at the time of the RCP (usually mid to end of July) then these posts can be considered as training posts. 

The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery carries out a wide spectrum of surgery covering the majority of the population of Cornwall. The purpose-built outpatient department accommodates outpatient facilities, as well as a Day Case theatre for surgical procedures. In addition, we have a busy maxillofacial surgery department and this job will provide a wide range of opportunities to gain experience in oral surgery, oral medicine, ward management of patients as well as exposure to maxillofacial surgery. The successful candidate will have their own supported local anaesthetic Minor Oral Surgery sessions along with out-patient clinics, on-call work, and also opportunity to assist with major maxillofacial cases. 

Cornwall is a beautiful county which offers an outstanding quality of life and providing many opportunities for outdoor activities, with its sailing waters, surfing beaches and rugged coastal pathways for walking, and cycling.  There is a thriving arts and theatre scene as well as an interesting variety of eating places, including celebrity-owned restaurants within Cornwall.  The major route in and out of the county is the A30 which connects with the M5 motorway at Exeter.  There is an excellent rail service with daily passenger and sleeper services and an airport at Newquay with daily connections to many cities throughout the UK and abroad. 

You will need to be registered with the General Dental Council at the time of appointment.  Applications are also welcomed from those wishing to work part- time or to job-share.
