CONSULTANT IN RESPIRATORY MEDICINE

 

 

Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Chest Physician at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro.

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our dynamic, expanding respiratory department in Cornwall. The Royal Cornwall Hospital is a busy district general hospital with links to University of Exeter Medical School. We have a 27 bed respiratory ward with a 6 bed Higher Care Unit for acute non-invasive ventilation. We offer a wide range of services including bronchoscopy, EBUS and pleural ultrasound. We also offer subspecialty services in lung cancer, cystic fibrosis, sleep medicine and respiratory failure. We are looking for individuals who can further enhance the current services but we would also encourage the development of other subspecialty areas which applicants can offer to complement our service.

 We will support you to actively participate in your continuing professional development.

We have a wide range of learning opportunities here at Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust, including an exciting point-of-care simulation team. The Trust recognises the value of a multi-disciplinary simulated activities that enhance clinical outcomes for patients, develop the way that teams work and learn together to continually improve

 

Cornwall is a beautiful county which offers an outstanding quality of life and providing many opportunities for outdoor activities, with its sailing waters, surfing beaches and rugged coastal pathways for walking, and cycling. There is a thriving arts and theatre scene as well as an interesting variety of eating places, including celebrity-owned restaurants within Cornwall. The major route both in and out of the county is the A30 which connects with the M5 motorway at Exeter. There is an excellent rail service with daily passenger and sleeper services and an airport at Newquay with daily connections to many cities throughout the UK and abroad.

 

Applicants are required to be on the GMC Specialist Register, or within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / EU equivalent certification at the time of interview. Applications are also welcomed from those unable wishing to work part-time or to job-share.
