An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time hospital optometrist or sessional optometrists to be employed by RCHT.  We are a very busy and progressive Ophthalmic Unit and are looking for a skilled, enthusiastic and motivated optometrist, who will contribute to the development of optometric services in the Hospital Eye Service in Cornwall.  The successful applicant will have the opportunity to develop optometric support for the corneal and contact lens services as well as the low vision service.  The role is also intended to contribute to the development of the shared care glaucoma service but there is the possibility of working in other of sub specialty clinics.

You will work as part of the multidisciplinary team with clinical leadership provided by Consultant Ophthalmologists and the Consultant Optometrist. You should be flexible and responsive to situations and have excellent organisational and communication skills. You should have proven clinical experience, and previous HES experience is essential.

The successful applicant must be a qualified optometrist, with a minimum of demonstrable post registration experience. The majority of this experience must be hospital based.  Other key attributes for this post include excellent interpersonal and communication skills, team focus, initiative and the ability to deliver a high standard of patient care.

This is a full-time post working 37.5 hours per week, but part time applicants will also be considered.
