Cornwall is famed for its world renowned beaches which make it a surfing haven in the UK as well as one of the leading holiday destinations in the UK. With castle ruins and old tin mines dotted throughout the county, the history in Cornwall is something that is to be celebrated alongside the changing scenery and local produce. We are also just a short flight or boat journey away from the stunning Isles of Scilly.
Come and work for the NHS in one of the most beautiful places on earth!
Our Maternity Unit is in the first wave of the National Safety Collaborative and we are striving towards our aim of being one of the safest units in the country. We are proud of our home birth rate and with our three stand-alone birth units; our community birth rate is regularly around 13%. We are excited with our fabulous alongside birth unit that has just opened and this will enable us to offer the women in Cornwall even more choice of place of birth.
We currently have vacancies for qualified midwives to join our dynamic and proactive team. We can offer you the chance to gain experience in all areas of midwifery practice (including community) with one of our rotational posts or you may prefer to opt for a traditional community or acute unit based contract. We particularly need Community Midwives for the St Austell and the St Ives area.
We have a robust in house training programme and we value our staff development. We will support you to be the best you can be and we can offer locally available relevant courses (such as NIPE, NLS and Maternal AIMS).
We are looking for motivated Band 5 and Band 6 Midwives to join us. For the newly qualified, we can offer a highly commended preceptorship programme of 12-18 months with guarantee of a Band 6 post on successful completion of the programme.
Please clearly indicate on your application form whether you are applying for the Band 5 or the Band 6 post.
