This vacancy is currently available to current employees of the Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust only

This is an opportunity to join our Platforms & Storage Team as a Platforms & Storage Engineer providing a second line technical support for the Trust's Infrastructure.

Your primary role will be to provide initial technical triage to assess faults and requests logged to the Platforms & Storage team with the first line support teams. You will manage the resolution of incidents including the appropriate escalation to those requiring a subject matter expert(s). You will undertake system and user administration and be involved in projects as the depth and  breadth of your knowledge increases.

The range of support provided covers;

  • 10,000+ fixed and mobile IP based devices (ie Printers, PC's, Laptops, etc).
  • 400 network and application
  • A complex integrated  voice and data  network  with a revenue  budget  of in excess of

£3.5 Million present in over 250 locations throughout Cornwall.

  • In excess of 800 network and Security devices County
  • A complex Microsoft, Citrix, and VM environment.
  • The provision of services across the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly NHS community used by 12000+ of the Cornwall NHS Organisations

The Platforms & Storage team is based in Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro and support infrastructure at sites across the County.

The applicants should have proven knowledge and skills in the support of ICT hardware (e.g. PCs, Printers, Laptops, Mobile Devices and Servers), plus a good working knowledge of the Microsoft product range but a willingness to learn is just as important as existing knowledge or qualifications. The applicants should have experience working as an IT engineer in a support role, preferably in a large organisation.

This is a fulltime post working 37.5 hours per week.
