An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, experienced, committed and flexible Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to work within the RCHT Haematology and Oncology Service.

The post is based in ‘The Cove’ a purpose built Macmillan Support Centre.  The Clinical Psychology and Counselling Service was established when the Cove opened in November 2016. There has been a huge demand for the service which has been extremely positively received by staff and patients. The post holder will be part of the next phase in service development, bringing new and creative ways of working with individuals and groups in line with existing outcomes and feedback.

The successful post holder will be joining a Macmillan Lead Clinical Psychologist and two Macmillan Counsellors working with the multi-disciplinary team of professionals and volunteers at the Cove. They will also have close working relationships with Therapists, Specialist Nurses and Consultant colleagues in Haematology and Oncology. They will be expected to work effectively as a member of these multi-disciplinary teams and to provide high quality assessment and intervention for patients at various stages of their cancer experiences.

The post holder will be a recognised Macmillan Professional, with direct access to specialist training and an individual professional training grant of up to £1000 per annum. In addition, peer support opportunities occur throughout the year provided by Macmillan Community of Practice for Devon and Cornwall.

This is a full-time post working 37.5 hours per week (including some Thursday evenings)

Proposed interview date: 11th November 2018
