The Health Records Department within the Records Management Service at the West Cornwall Hospital, Penzance is looking to appoint a member of staff to retrieve upon request, patient records, and prepare them for health care professionals who see and treat patients.

This will require strenuous, mental and physical ability to meet the very demanding requirements of this job role.   Approximately 90% of this role can be physically demanding.

Good dexterity and manual handling skills are essential as is the ability to climb ladders up to 2 metres high and carry bags weighing up to 10kg, so may not be suitable for a person with a disability or health condition. 

You will need to be accurate and numerate and used to achieving and sustaining deadlines whilst working with minimum supervision and be able to read hand written or electronic documents displayed as 10/11 font.

Working in a team, duties may include retrieving case notes within the Health Records Library or the Clinic Preparation Office, using an electronic tracking system and preparing case notes to support patient care in both the Outpatient/Inpatient areas whilst working in a safe and considerate manner.

Flexibility and reliability is of extreme importance, as you may be required to cover absences and participate in the Bank Holiday rota.

This is a part-time fixed term contract post working 22.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 09:00 –13:30

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
