ACC / Trained Clinical Coder

The Clinical Data Capture Department, based at Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro, is looking to recruit an Accredited Clinical Coder with a good level of clinical coding experience. We are looking for a hardworking, enthusiastic individual capable of working within a team and independently.

The successful applicant will abstract clinical information from various clinical documents and translate into coded format using the classifications ICD10 and OPCS4. This information is entered into a computer system, and it is essential that strict coding deadlines be met in order that the Trust receives the correct financial income.

Essentially applicants must have a minimum of five GCSE passes (or equivalent), which should include English, Maths and Human Biology or General Science. The applicant must also have passed the National Clinical Coding Qualification (NCCQ) and be a Accredited Clinical Coder. The nature of the work requires an adaptable person with a methodical approach and high attention to detail, yet able to work within deadlines and timescales.  You will be liaising with all levels of staff within the Trust and therefore good verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills are essential requirements.

This is a full time post at 37.5 hours per week working Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday but there may be part-time opportunities available.

For further information please contact Paula Wheeler, Clinical Coding Service Manager, on 01872 253486 or Jo Counter, Clinical Coding Training Manager, on 01872 253083.
